My third book, Back After This, is coming on February 25, which is (looks at calendar) only a little over two weeks away! (By the way, I originally wrote February 22, which is wrong. Way to go, Holmes.)
This one is set in podcast world (which is of course one of my own worlds) and it tells the story of a producer named Cecily who gets the chance to make and host her own show — but it’s a dating show, which is not exactly her dream. It also pairs her with a hyper-upbeat influencer named Eliza, who is full of advice and ready to set her up on 20 first dates, certain that one of them will stick.
But not long after she agrees to do this, Cecily sees a big dog running down the street, and right behind him is Will, a guy who just starts turning up in her life again and again. But dating him would be complicated, of course, when she’s in the middle of having herself remade for the benefit of an audience.
I really love this book, which grew out of my love of audio, my love of dogs, my love of romcoms, my evolving feelings about work as I get older, and my love of Washington, D.C., where the book is set. (Come for the romcom; stay for the references to restaurants and Dupont Circle.)
Every time I have a book come out, someone asks, “Can I get a signed copy?” And I am delighted to say yes, you can get a signed copy! If you pre-order from East City Bookshop in D.C. then I’m happy to sign it before they send it on its way.
OH AND ANOTHER THING! I actually did the audio for this one as well, so you will be able to hear me tell you this story the same way I heard it in my head. That is also available for pre-order from places like Libro.fm, my personal favorite outlet for audiobooks.
